Volunteering at the York County SPCA
Become a volunteer- please     Volunteer Activities

Volunteers are essential to the operation of our shelter. The number of animals housed at our facility far exceed the capacity of our full time staff. Your volunteer service is needed and appreciated.

Volunteer Orientation meetings are usually held the second Saturday of every month at the York County SPCA facility, The Brougher Companion Animal Shelter. We expect that volunteers can contribute a minimum of 50 hours per year. The Orientation Meeting is required so that volunteers can learn the safety procedures and operating policies of the shelter. The following are dates for upcoming orientation meetings:

The orientation meeting scheduled for July 12 is cancelled.

Saturday, August 9 @ 10:30 AM
Saturday, September 13 @ 10:30 AM
Saturday, October 11 @ 10:30 AM

Volunteers are required to purchase a volunteer t-shirt ($7.00) and name badge ($7.00). We can find a job that satisfies your skills and your interests. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to work with the animals.

Who is mowing all that lawn each week?

Thank you to Bill Lawton of Double "L" Lawn Care, LLC.  He has graciously offered to provide the York County SPCA with complimentary lawn and landscaping services for our entire property.  Thanks to Bill, our grounds will be as spectacular as our building.  The following are companies that are collaborating with Bill to assist him in his efforts to beautify our property:   Turf Tamers/Monroe Mueller Bortner & Lighty, LLC/Jason Bortner Burke's Groundskeeping/Wade Burke Chad's Lawn & Snow/Chad Becker   Pictured are Jeremiah Snyder (left) and Bill Lawton (right).
