Reminder: Our Spay and Neuter Surgical Center will be closed 9/25, 9/26, 9/27. We will reopen Monday 9/30 at 7 am.
Welcome Steven Martinez!
Welcome new Executive Director, Steven Martinez!
With almost ten years of non-profit experience, Martinez most recently held the role of Communications Director with the Community Action Association of Pennsylvania (CAAP). Here he led the organization in advocacy roles, communication strategy, special events, and administration.
“Our Board of Directors and Search Committee aimed to identify a candidate who would be visionary, inspiring, strategic, and mission focused,” said Jane Davis, president of the Board of Directors. “Steven possess not only those attributes, but also is a strong communicator and will be able to tell the story and share the passion of our organization. I commend the Search Committee for their tireless efforts in finding and securing the ideal candidate for this role.”
Martinez holds a Master of Business Administration, with an entrepreneurship concentration, from Loyola University Chicago, and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University. In addition, his skills include developing revenue models and financial analysis, managing community partners, and understanding the value of an effective outreach and marketing strategy.
“I am elated to accept this position,” shared Martinez. “The opportunity to lead an organization that aligns with my professional experience, and passion for the wellbeing of animals is exciting.”
Martinez is the proud adopter of three dogs, three cats, and six chickens. He resides in Harrisburg with his wife.

York Revolution-exciting partnership!
The York County SPCA is thrilled to announce we will be embarking (pun intended!) on a new partnership with the York Revolution. Boomer, the SPCA alum and current Team Dog of ten years, will be retiring at the end of the 2019 baseball season. We have found another team dog, an SPCA rescue, Blu to take over as the new team dog for next season. Check out the most recent article about Blu and Boomer here York Daily Record 8/30/2019 article.

Tales for Tails Fall 2019 Schedule
The York County SPCA Tales for Tails program is for kids in Kindergarten-6th grade. This is a wonderful program for our dogs and readers. It provides kids with a judgement free zone to practice reading while giving a calm and quiet few hours to our dogs. Please sign up each participating child using one sign up box per child. Children are encouraged to bring their own book(s) and blanket or towel to sit on, but we will provide these items for you in the lobby.
We hope to see you in our kennels, curled up with a good book and a great dog.
Clear the Shelters
Join the York County SPCA as we participate in Clear the Shelters-a nationwide adoption drive aimed at, you guessed it, clearing our shelter! This is our first year participating, and we will be doing so by honoring half priced adoptions from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, August 17th. Please get your application in ahead of time so we can work to approved it. Same Day Adoptions are only available with a pre-approved application. New Applications will not be reviewed this day. We have over 100 available animals waiting to home with you.

Tales for Tails Summer Schedule
Please click the above link to schedule your child(ren) for the summer Tales for Tails reading event. Please note changes have been made, and some dates have been canceled and moved. The times are also different for the summer months. Your elementary aged child is able to come to the SPCA to read to the shelter dogs outside of their kennels. The dogs absolutely love their calm and quiet time with the kids. This is a free event! For questions, please email email@example.com. Thank you for participating!
Trap Neuter Return Transport Assistance
Are you in need of help trapping and managing a colony of free roaming cats?
The York County SPCA now has a program where an experienced trapper will help set traps on your property and transport them to and from our spay neuter clinic for the care they need!
This program includes transportation of the cats, spay/neuter surgery, and a Rabies vaccine.
