Cat and Small Animal Care Volunteers at YCSPCA Satellite Locations

The York County SPCA is looking for volunteer help at our satellite locations – PetSmart in Hanover (cat help), PetValu in Etters (cat help), PetSmart in West York (cat and/or rabbit help), and Petco in East York (cat and/or rabbit help).  Volunteers will be trained to help feed, clean, and socialize with the cats and/or rabbits.  If interested in making an ongoing commitment to care for either the cats and/or rabbits at our satellite locations, and you are 18 years or older, please submit an online volunteer application.

Dog Walker Training 2020

Volunteers are needed to walk all of the dogs in our kennel every day. This is a huge task, and requires many volunteers, including perhaps you! Dog walkers must be minimum 18 years old. We are always looking for more walkers and we are especially interested in walkers who can handle the big dogs in our kennel. If you have the confidence, fitness, and willingness, we can train you for the large dogs in our kennel. Some of these dogs will pull and are not accustomed yet to walk politely on a leash. There is a fee of $25 to register and attend the four training sessions; volunteers will receive a volunteer  t-shirt, name tag and leash.  Please plan to attend all four classes in a session, although instructors will be able to accommodate you if have a schedule conflict. Our experience is that volunteers who become successful walkers are those who are fit and can easily walk several miles.  Dog walking is very satisfying and you are enriching the lives of these dogs and you are making them more adoptable. And you will get some great exercise! This is the schedule for our upcoming classes:

Mondays – September 14, September 21, September 28 and October 5. Classes are from 12 – 3 pm.

Saturdays – October 10, October 17, October 24 and October 31. Classes are from 2 – 4 pm.

To register for any of these sessions, please complete an application
